HD Quiz does not handle user registration and login – that is something that should be handled by either your theme, or a dedicated user management plugin.
There is a paid addon, Save Results Pro.
This addon will allow you to save the results for each quiz and even email the results to the quiz taker, as well as add a custom form to either the start of a quiz (before quiz start) or before the end (before user can see their results).
A future update (should be released sometime this month) will also add a shortcode where the currently logged-in user can review their past results.
There is also a FREE addon, Limit Attempts.
This addon has a mode that allows you to restrict each quiz to only logged in users. I think this will be useful for your use case.
And finally, as far as documentation goes, plugin documentation can be found just about everywhere, including within the plugin/addons themselves.
