HD Quiz

Hi carole,
I cannot remember, but if I previously provided custom code to add audio/video content then then issue is that code would have only be compativle with the 1.8.x branch, not the new 2.0 branch. If you can provide me with the thread where I sent you the orignal code, I can send you a modified version that works with 2.0

you just sent me down a rabbit hole, haha.

First, to set the stage.

That addon is no longer needed, as I built the feature into HDQ 2.0 directly. However, the field name is different from the one in the addon which is why they disappeared for you.

I’ll update the addon for 2.0 compatibility so that you won’t need to re-add the audio again.

HOWEVER

This is weird, as that field is the one I built in to replace the addon. It should work. So I tested it and… you’re right, nothing happens. Except it does work. It turns out WordPress currently has a bug with the classic editor and embedding audio/video. If you switch to “text” edit mode you’ll actually see the embed shortcode there, and saving and viewing the quiz will correctly show the embedded media.

I tracked it down and the WP bug is related to the feature that will automatically turn website urls into links. If I disable that, then embeds work as intended again.

So what I’ll do today is push a small patch to HD Quiz to fix the embeds (as that’s more useful than converting text urls to links), and I’ll respond here with the update to the addon so that you won’t need to add each embed again.

yes, not only was HD Quiz itself updated last week to bypass the WP Editor link bug, but I have also now updated the old addon as well. Same download link as before:

NOTES TO ANYONE ELSE READING THIS: This addon is for use with this user and the few others who needed it BEFORE HD Quiz version 2.x.x. Since this functionality is now baked in, the only thing this addon will do is allow legacy users to not have to add the content again.

Unfortunately, that means that the data must have been overwritten at some point. The good news (for whatever it’s worth) is that you no longer need the addon. As long as you are using the most recent version of HD Quiz, you can use the “Before question content” section to add your audio files again.
