Heading tags

closed

I’m using the additional styler for HD Quiz. I’m using WordPress Table of Contents Block elements (TOC). Problem is when I add quiz to the page the questions and results headings are shown on the table of contents. The issue seems to be that they have heading tags (H2, H3). I have tried to eliminate the effect of those unwanted headings by using Toc-Ignore-tag on quiz wrapper but it doesn’t seem to work. Is it possible to remove heading tags from quiz elements? Or can you possibly provide another work around?

Hi Sakari,
if you can post a link to a quiz I can provide better and more direct options.

To start, I’ll say this.

Question titles are H3s for a reason, including that it is semantically better, good for SEO, and is better for styling as your headings will inherit most styling from your theme.

Because of the above, I would advise against changing the question titles away from a heading.

HOWEVER

You have three options.

  • You can edit the plugin to change headings to paragraph tags. You’d need to redo this change every time you update HD Quiz as the update would overwrite your change.
  • You can figure out how to get the TOC exclusions to work with HD Quiz. If you can post a link to the TOC plugin you are using, I can see what documentation they have.
  • Since you have the styler addon, we can add custom CSS to your site that only loads when there is a quiz. We might be able to use this to hide questions from the TOC (but I’d need to see a quiz on your site with the TOC to confirm)
