Personality style quiz

closed

I want to create a personality style quiz where the answers are weighted so when they’ve finished, the results show mostly 1, 2, 3, or 4 – as per the weight I’ve assigned to each answer.

The questions come out on a draft page I created, but there’s no results. How do I make this happen as everything appears to be set up for right and wrong answers in the results, despite google search saying HD Quiz does a free personality style quiz for wordpress.

Let me know if you need any more information, or would like me to ‘activate’ my quiz page for you to suss it out.

Hi Philippa,
it sounds like you created a scored quiz instead of a personality quiz.

When creating a new quiz, make sure to select Personality from the quiz type dropdown.

And then when creating/editing a question, make sure you have Weighted Answers enabled

Basically the steps are:

  • Create new personalty type quiz
  • Set up your results/outcomes
  • Create your questions. Enable weights if you want to give each answer custom values

Hi Dylan

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I did use Personality in drop down.
How do I get the results to add up.
I have weighted the first answers with ‘1’ the second one with ‘2’ etc
Here’s link to screenshot of the results page, where you’ll see I’ve called outcome title ‘Mainly 1’ – is this right?

How do I get it to work it out – and then do you have an email opt in to get the full results?

I think I understand what you are trying to do.

You may not even need to enable weighted questions, but you can use weighted if you want to award additional points for an answer, or even negative points towards an outcome.

As an example, let’s assume you have three Results / Outcomes:
Mostly A, Mostly B, and Mostly C.

Now you create a question with three answers:
A, B, C.

Now for each answer, you select the outcome that you want to award a point to.

At the end of the quiz, whichever result has the highest “score” is shown to the user.

And just in case you are asking how to create additional outcomes, just select that black “add” button in your screenshot

Yeha – I’ve finally got it all to work.
Is it possible to have the questions appear one by one?
I would really like to get people’s emails for them to receive the result as the quiz is a great way to build my database. Is it feasible to do this. If so, how do I set it up?

You are looking for the Paginate feature.

If you want it to be 1-by-1 then you can enable “Force paginate all questions” under the quiz settings → Advanced tab. You can also control it on a per-question basis by enabling Paginate on each question you want to start a new page with.

As for collecting emails, if you want to FORCE user to provide their info, then you can purchase the Save Results Pro addon

https://hdplugins.com/product/save-results-pro/\

It can even automatically add users to a mailchimp account or connect to zapier if you need.

There is also the free Save Results Light addon that allows you to track usage, but it does not record the names/emails of non-logged in users. Another option is to add your own contact form to either the start of a quiz or to the results. Users can ignore this, but but some will still fill it out
