registration, user access, sign-ins etc. should be handled by your theme or another plugin dedicated to handling that kind of functionality.
WordPress has membership capabilities built right in, so things like allowing users to signup depend on whether your theme exposes those features for you. Assuming it does, then HD Quiz honors the “private” page and post status.
In WordPress, when you set a page or post to “private” it means that the page can ONLY be viewed by logged in users. So I recommend making the pages with quizzes private and you’ll be good to go. You can also install the free HD Quiz Save Results Light Addon so that you’ll know when your students complete quizzes and what their score was.
