HD Quiz

Hi Chinedu,
HD Quiz does not store or send any data to the server. All functionality is client-side (this means handled by your browser).

If server validation is a requirement for you, then you’d be better served with an LMS plugin. LearnDash for WordPress is a popular solution for this.

If you still prefer to use HD Quiz then you can set
HDQ_SECURE_ANSWERS
as a definition to stop all answers from printing, stopping people from source code peeping. This will, however, also stop Quiz marking unless you also install one the free Server Validation addon, and/or implement your own server side marking.

This is a free addon. You can download the zip and install it from the Plugins page on your site.

I also recommend taking a look at the code inside the plugin so that you can see what it is doing. I also recommend removing the HDQ_SECURE_ANSWERS that you previously added, since I added it to this addon directly to make it easier for you.

This addon should work perfectly for your quiz as it is compatible with the quiz settings you are using, such as the Pool of Questions feature.

This addon is only compatible with Multiple Choice questions, and it will not mark/highlight individual questions – but you have marking disabled, so this is not a problem for your use case.

Once installed, let me know if you have any issues with it.

So I have installed the custom plugin, I try the quiz the result was 0/30, I know the answers to some of the questions. I guess the marking is not working. The issue I am having is that there is someone that is showing me all my question answers, I don’t know how he is doing it. Under 3 minutes he will send me a txt file of all question answers. I want to be giving prizes but someone like that is a problem

there should be an update to HD Quiz as well available. Can you check to see if it is ready for you? It might take WordPress a few minutes to update all of their servers to show you the update. I updated both to add a new action called hdq_before_submit as it makes more sense to change the order that things are done in for performance.

Also make sure to clear your site caches (litespeed) after just to make sure the latest changes are loading for users.

Haha wow, that person seems to be a real asshole. Sorry you have to deal with someone like that.

There is NOTHING you can ever do to stop someone from viewing source. But because of your changes, they can no longer use that to help.

I see that you’ve also enabled the Limit Attempt addon – that will make it harder for this person to annoy you like this, but it won’t stop someone with a lot of programming knowledge.

But please note: if you want to be extra secure, your best bet is to force people to log into the site in order to take the quizzes.

This way, the Server Validation addon, in conjunction with the Save Results addon you already have, is the best way to A) stop spammy people like the one you are dealing with, and B), ensure that people can’t fake the screenshots you are requesting since that wouldn’t matter, you can check the saved results for proof.

Okay thanks, that means I will activate logged in only for limit mode. How will I know people that pass the quiz so that I can award them their prizes, because I think the frontend is no more marking but I will still try it again

The save results addon will keep track of submitted results, and since the user is logged in, it will also tell you who submitted the quiz.
