Hi!

I’ve been using your fantastic plugin for a time. And I loved that the questions were using featured images ( I use it with another plugin to use external pictures as featured images ) Now in the 1.8 version I can’t use it anymore. I don’t know if that’s the expected behaviour or the question upgrade went wrong.

Any clue about that?

Thanks for your hard work in this fantastic FREE plugin!

Hi Marc,
The upgrade worked and you did nothing wrong!

HD Quiz used to use the featured image, but the latest version saves it as part of the same custom meta array as all of the other meta (like each answer, which is correct, question title, extra text and so on). This was done for many reasons, the mains ones being that it allows HD Quiz to be “hookable” (meaning that any developer can easily extend HD Quiz to add their own meta to the quizzes and questions), as well as allows us to have far more control over the way that the images are used and displayed on the site. For example, the use of the featured image caused image size issues for users who had themes or other plugins that did weird things or modified the featured image functions.

With that said, HD Quiz still uses the native WordPress media uploader to handle setting images (the same system that sets a native featured image), so I’m surprised that whatever plugin you were using to add external images to your library is not working.

I guess is not working because the plugin i use doesn’t save the images to media library so my solution was to change that plugin to one that uses the media library!

Thanks a lot!

If you are enjoying HD Quiz please leave a review here on the official WordPress.org page. HD Quiz is developed by me, just some dude, and is supported and available for free. It may seem dumb, but truly nothing makes me happier than knowing that people are using and loving HD Quiz and my hard work.
