Hi – I think this quiz looks PERFECT for what I want to do with my educational website – and I’m more than happy to support any developer that not only produces such great plugins, but has such enthusiasm for them! My problem is that I’m using Thrive Themes to build my website pages in WP and can’t get the shortcode to work. I think what I need it some sort of ‘long code’ 😀

Thank you for your words of support Martin!

I am not familiar with Thrive Themes, but shortcode functionalities are baked right into native WordPress – so I’d be very disappointed if Thrive Themes has done something that would affect this!

What happens when you use a shortcode? An example shortcode should look like This quiz no longer exists. Do you have any other quiz plugins installed? I’ve heard from other users that one of the other quiz plugins (cannot remember which one at the moment) completely rewrites WordPress Queries which breaks not only HD Quiz, but many other plugins as well.

What “visual editor” are you using to create your pages and posts? Native WordPress Classic Editor (tinyMCE), the new WordPress native visual editor called Gutenberg, elementor, beaver builder, etc etc.

There should still be a way to provide a “long code” way for you to display quizzes, but I’d need a bit of time to figure out the best way to do this. If you are comfortable with code, you can try to create a custom template file (or temporarily use an existing template file such as the 404 template) to call the shortcode directly using WordPress do_shortcode(); function. Example:

do_shortcode('This quiz no longer exists);

If you are enjoying HD Quiz please leave a review here on the official WordPress.org page. HD Quiz is developed by me, just some dude, and is supported and available for free. It may seem dumb, but truly nothing makes me happier than knowing that people are using and loving HD Quiz and my hard work.
