Hi, I am new to quizzes, new to almost everything WP, but my question is this:
I have installed your program, and was able to add the name of my quiz, but when I hit enter and it goes to the next page, little dots speed across my screen and I can’t add any questions at all. I have tried several times and in several ways, even adding a second quiz, but nothing. Have I done something wrong? I also just updated WP to 5.4.1 in between attempts. That didn’t help either.
Thanks! Really looking forward to using this plugin.

Hi Hollie,
once you’ve created a quiz, you will see it appear in that list. Now, simply select the quiz to be able to edit the quiz settings (such as custom pass/fail text) and to add questions.

You can also watch the tutorial video for a closer look on how to do this as well as get a better understanding of the various settings and features

As soon as I name the quiz and hit enter, it goes to another page where I can’t click on anything. It shows a button to add a new question, save the quiz, questions, quiz settings, and even go back to quizzes. But I can’t click on anything. Nothing clicks. I can’t even copy the shortcode. I just see the black dots chasing each other across the screen.

Hmmm… that’s weird!

Are there any errors or messages in your browser console? Another plugin on your site might be adding broken code to all pages, or there might be a permissions issue with whatever account you are logged into.

In most browsers, the console can be opened by pressing F12. With the console open, go to HD Quiz and try selecting a quiz. Then try clicking on the Add New Question button and let me know what messages pop up in that console. With a bit of luck, it will lead us to fixing an issue on your site that you might not have even known about 🙂

There were five things listed in Console. Two of them were in red:

Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js?hash=91783c96e95195212dbc9e130385d6a0. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed).

And in yellow:

I have no idea what any of these mean. Do you? Thanks!

Thanks for sending. This definitely indicates that there is a larger problem with your site.

For some reason, your site is unable to load the tinyMCE editor (the default/classic editor for WordPress).

Are you aware of any plugin or setting you have enabled that would remove the default WordPress editor?

Oh, great, I have a mce problem! I know this is outside your range of influence, but I would really love your help. What is a tinymce, how can I fix it, and how big of a problem is it? I have reviewed many quiz plugins, and the only one that seems to fit exactly what I want is yours.

I did apparently have a problem in Add Any Extension to Pages just before I added your plugin, and I can’t remember the sequence of events after that. I may have either deactivated it and then activated it, or deactivated, deleted, and then reinstalled. Sorry, I can’t remember what the problem was. This probably isn’t much help to you, but if you have any ideas, I would love your input.

The first thing to check is your user account/profile page. This can be easily accessed by pressing the “Howdy, your username link on the top right of your website backend. On this page, one of the first settings is called Disable the visual editor when writing. Make sure that this is NOT checked.

If the above does not work, then the best recommendation I can give is the generic WordPress bug test.

  1. Disable all plugins except HD Quiz
  2. Test HD Quiz to see if issue is fixed. If issue is fixed, then we know with 100% certainty that the issue was caused by another plugin.
  3. Re-enable each plugin one-by-one until we discover which is the plugin breaking your site.

I have tried everything, and no luck. Thanks for your time, though. I really appreciate it!

If you are enjoying HD Quiz please leave a review here on the official WordPress.org page. HD Quiz is developed by me, just some dude, and is supported and available for free. It may seem dumb, but truly nothing makes me happier than knowing that people are using and loving HD Quiz and my hard work.
